How to restore deleted data in Google Sheets?

Undoing the Last Action

If your working Google Sheets is not closed from your browser then data has been deleted by you or your google account then you can use this undoing the last action to restore deleted data in Google Sheets. You can click on undo option multiple times till your deleted data not showing. To undo you can click on Undo option or Press Ctrl + Z from your keyboard several times till your deleted data is not showing or go to edit menu and click on Undo option.

Using Version History

If your Google Sheets closed from your browser or If you need to recover data that was deleted some time ago or past days or months, Google Sheets’ Version History is your best bet. This feature allows you to view and restore previous versions of your spreadsheet.

If you have worked on that Google sheets after deleted data then we recommend to make a copy of your Google Sheets (temporary Google Sheets) before using version history so that you do not lost your data after deleted worked on that Google Sheets or simply for backup your post data. After restoring deleted data you can paste data from temporary Google Sheets to your Main Google Sheets which worked after deleted data.

To make a Temporary Google Sheets go to File menu and click on Make a copy and new copy of Google Sheets created and if you want then rename that temporary Google Sheets.

After that for Version history go to File menu and click on Version history then click on See version history or you can also use keyboard shortcut key Ctrl + Alt + Shift + H

After clicking on See version history you will see Sidebar window for Version history in right side of your Sheets. you can see there multiple version histories with date and time. You can see in below image.

Now you can check your earlier data by clicking on versions Date and Time. You can find your data in some version. If you are able to find your data then click on Restore this version on top of the Google Sheets . Check in below image.

After clicking on Restore this version you are able to restore your deleted data in your Google Sheets. But after that version data will lost. Don’t worry you have already backup your data as duplicate Google Sheets. Now you can copy paste required  from your temporary Google Sheets to Main Google Sheets.
